Acrylic on Canvas, mixed techniques 100 x 100 cm
Intrigued by her eyes I have challenged myself to paint the portrait of the ‘Afghan Girl’ photographed by Steve McCurry for National Geographic. Although her eyes draw most of the attention, I am especially intrigued by the fact that she covers her face. I have observed it so much while I spent time in the Middle East. I have very much enjoyed the process of this art piece. While I worked myself closer to the final stage, I felt very excited. I carefully choose the colors for the finishing touch. It felt like an honor to be able to paint this beautiful young girl.
This painting is set up in mixed techniques but mainly with palette knife.
